Setting all of that aside there could've been some major adjustments that would've made this a superior than all of the installments in the franchise combined. Some newer casting choices were superior than originally. The eerie soundtrack helped the drama and horror elements. While not as gory as the sequels, it's impressive than originally. Some newer deaths were more creative than the originals. The drama helped when the humor lacked.Despite reusing the same script, some twists were clever.Overall, poor remake, Eli Roth what the hell are you thinking backing this?Īfter viewing it, I have extremely mixed feelings about it. But not everything of course, the Winston at the underage party scene was way better in the original.Īnd worst of all, what the hell was with that mid credit scene? Made absolutely no sense! Are they trying to imply something supernatural is going on? WTF? I thought a few of the character's death were more brutal (particularly Karen's) and the "safety's on" part actually got a giggle out of me. The highlight for me though was the last twenty minutes where they attempted a few new things. There was no suspense as I knew who was gonna die thus I got bored easily and checked my phone a lot. Why do this style of remaking as it evidently never works (Psycho and Carrie remakes). Plus, as was expected, almost everything was the same. Chemistry sucked too, just felt like a bunch of actors getting together for an easy buck. Bert and Deputy Winston were my favorite characters in the original movie, and here they are just bland as hell. Here are my thoughts.įirst, the humor was sorely missed.
